This afternoon has been slightly calmer, with a delightful ‘Pipe Up!’ concert at Eddington Priory. Students from as far as Ottery St Mary in Devon came along for the hour long celebration of the scheme, which not only encourages young people to play the organ, but also helps subsidise the cost of lessons.
We each played a piece (or two in my case) on the magnificent organ, which has only been in situ since August 2014, it was only a few months after that, when I played that very organ for the first time. How my playing has come on since then!
And yes there’s more news – the new Mayor of Devizes has his inauguration service in 5 weeks time. He enjoyed my playing so much this morning, that via Chris, he has asked if I will play at the celebration service! I feel very honoured to have been asked and look forward to it
