Organ recital by Tom Bell

This morning I went to St John’s Church to hear an Organ Recital, which was part of Devizes Arts Festival. It was performed by Tom Bell. There was a variety of modern (one piece composed by Andrew Grant who is running for election in Chippenham at present) and traditional pieces.

I ticked off the pieces I liked. There were only 5!!! The others were too modern or strange for me, but they really made me realise how much the organ can do, especially the piece by James MacMillan. The organ literally laughed!

After the concert I met Tom and he gave me a copy of one of his CD’s, which was really kind! He runs some of the types of courses I do so I might see him again. He said he’d keep a eye out for me!

At home, I finished my music folder which is now up to date and ready for my audition in Cardiff at the end of the month.
