Oxford Organs Part 2

Written by Mummy…

Having registered at 9.15am, we enjoyed a little free time before a group meeting. The 45 students then practiced Compline in Magdelene College which is thus far Anna’s favourite. It’s easy to see why!

We then headed to Balliol, where we heard a sight reading and harmonisation class. Anna took copious notes!

Next we headed to Lincoln, which is certainly not on the list! We had a great class where everyone (5 students in our group) played a piece and the teacher made recommendations. He was amazingly knowledgeable on each piece and composer and I only wish the session could have been longer and on a larger organ. There are no pics as it was impossible to get any!

Finally we headed to Jesus College which is lovely. Anna joined the group in the organ loft while I wrote notes for her. The session is on improvisation and frankly the students are pretty good at it!

Later on we’ve dinner at Queens and Compline at Trinity…it’s all go!
