Today we remembered those who gave their lives for us in war, especially those involved in the First World War on the centenary of its ending. Devizes did us proud in the way we remembered with memorials throughout the town.
The church was packed for the 10am service, before moving to the war memorial for 11am.
At the end of the service, I played the Fanfare, which you can see here. Fanfare. Last year I played when the flags were brought in Remembrance Sunday 2017.
The photo of the war memorial is from the church Facebook page.
This afternoon, the choir joined Devizes Town Band in ‘For King and Country’.
It was a packed programme of moving music, some I knew, but some I wasn’t so familiar with. It was a moving concert, a fitting tribute and I was very proud to be part of it.
Devizes has remembered, I have and will remember.
Did you play the National Anthem as well?

Great! That’s the one tune I’d love to be able to play! The Walton Crown Imperial is a good one to play at Remembrancetide.

Anna Thank you so much for these lovely pictures of Remembrance Day. I found the occasion profoundly moving and I am so glad to have this memorial of the day, perhaps especially of the Rangoli sand portrait, which was done just for the day.
