Happy new year!

Today marks the beginning of Advent and therefore the beginning of the new Church Year. I love the Advent season, when all the hymns are at the beginning of the hymn book, usually traditional, well known, well loved carols.

It’s a great time for the choir to sing some extra music too. Today, we sang an introit, motet and dismissal. I enjoyed singing a short solo with my new found singing confidence in the introit.

Advent wouldn’t be Advent without the wreath and the first candle being lit as a symbol of hope.

I saw this suggestion on Facebook and thought I might give it a go. I’m a day behind already (as I only saw it today), but to mark my Confirmation year I thought it might be a good thing to do, especially as today was my last post Confirmation class.
