Nine Lessons and Carols

One of the highlights of the church year this evening with the Nine Lessons and Carols service. It’s a highlight because of the amount of music we sing but also because of the number of past choir members who come back to join us, either in the choir stalls or the congregation. This evening, I think we had over fifty and people in the choir stalls helping us raise the roof with some marvellous music!

Chris was kind enough to give me the opening voluntary piece, which I proudly played to a packed church.

The new Head Chorister was announced at the service and the medal handed over. It’s a great service to do this at with so many people from Devizes and surrounding area filling the church. They get to see a little bit more about the choir and our traditions.

There was a real buzz in the church after the service. Jamie was delighted to see his music teacher ‘Mr O’ from St Augustines there and he was very complimentary about the music he’d heard.

After a music making weekend, I have a quiet’ish’ week ahead seeing friends and chilling!
