I am so lucky to know people who know people who allow me to play an organ which would not normally be accessible. Today, through a contact at school, Mrs Abbott, I was introduced to Ben Nicholas at Merton College, Oxford and allowed to play the magnificent organ in the chapel.
Ben was very kind with his time and advice for the future. Basically, keep going, work hard, get the GCSE grades and then look at the next goal. So, that’s what I’ll keep doing!

Of course, no visit to Oxford would be complete without a visit to Blackwells Music shop and here…

Oxford, like Cambridge, is very definitely one of my happy places!
I’m going there today, as a little 50th birthday gift to myself. I shall think of you if I see that doorway!

Thanks Anna, it’s not actually until Saturday 21st but its a very busy week for me at work. Got the actual day off so myself and my wife might take a trip somewhere else, Bristol maybe, and we’ll do some classical CD and music shopping! Had a fantastic day in Oxford, emailed you some pictures!

I like the Bate Collection of early instruments (including pre Baroque keyboard paraphernalia) just off St.Aldates.
